Ringweg 2024 - 2025
Photography and videography
Funded and selected by het Stadsarchief Amsterdam
In Ringweg Mayte Breed explores the ringroad around Amsterdam, the A10, from a driving vehicle. Her fascination with this repeating organism, as she calls it, was the starting point for the Ringweg series. Breed sees it as an ecosystem where people come and go. It is a constantly changing place that remains similar at the same time.
The stationary road cuts through water, neighbourhoods, and open spaces, passing people in their metal bubbles. In her visual research, Breed remains in constant motion, endlessly driving along the circular A10. Through photography, audio, and video, she captures this place that connects us but also separates us.
This project has been selected and funded by the Amsterdam City Archives. The images are stored in their physical archive and can be found online in their image bank here.
